The Faux-Terrain project invites you to explore a virtual greenhouse, generated from a botanical publication written by Aimé Bonpland during his tenure as superintendent of the greenhouses at Malmaison and Navarre.

The installation seeks to bring this publication to life with narrative and sensory depth. Immersed in a space based on the Panorama medium, the reader—now a virtual explorer—is confronted with a visual landscape of abstract, generative plants, behind which lies a taxonomic lexical universe waiting to be discovered. Using interactive gesture-based controls, participants are invited to inspect every leaf, stem, and flower to unveil hidden words.

What makes this virtual jungle unique is its ability to weave connections between various phrases and plants, allowing participants to forge their own path through the botanist's words and, in doing so, reconstruct a new landscape of meaning that feels true to them.
